Hey everyone. First I want to say that I just made it home.
Before you continue to read, I want you to know that me and my family are safe for now.
Yesterday, my mom took my sister and I to go see a movie in town.
Once we got out, it was poooouuring rain. We thought about sitting it out,
but it seemed to clear up, so we went for it.
After a little driving, and rain picked up again. We were on a toll road, relying on GPS to get home
because the rain was SO HARD we couldn't see the road signs until
we had already passed them. Anyway, we ended up missing our turn,
getting lost, and driving up to a flooded road. My mom, the driver, started to panic.
Crying and shaking and I had to stay strong for her while my younger
sister sobbed silently in the back seat.
I got her to turn around. My dad is calling, pissed off to beyond belief, but at least we are
going the right way now. We make it to familiar ground, and traffic hits. My dad calls, saying the road that we live on is flooded at the bridge, and we need to take the other way home. Just after that, we pull
further in the traffic, and on the free way, there is water all over the road. The road on the other side was CLOSED because a WATER RESCUE WAS HAPPENING. ON THE FREEWAY. This is where I lost it.
I seriously thought the three of us with our tiny car were going to float away, because there was no turning around.
Water was rising, and quickly, and it was either drive through it.
That passed, we drive upon some people who just drove through it, parked on the side of the road because they had to take a moment to regain themselves from what had just happened.
After that, dad calls again. The back road we were supposed to take was flooded as well. So there was absolutely no getting home. Our next option was to stay at a friend's house. But hey, guess what! We needed to turn around for that. We couldn't do that because the road was closed and flooded with that water rescue.
We drove in closer to town, and found a hotel to stay in. It took us a good hour to calm down, relax, and just take in everything that had happened.
At this point, we are stuck there, and my dad is stuck at home. It was a really rough night.
That all was yesterday. I'm home now, since once of the low water crossings went down. However, we are still under flash flood watch for a while, so my parents left me and my sister at home while they go get supplies from HEB just in case we are stuck here for a while.
Anyway, that's my situation.
